Champions League – Matchday 2

Afternoon to everyone, how are we today? Good win for Burnley against Watford last night in the Premier League, I watched most of it and Burnley were good for their win. Unsure what happened to Watford mind due, did last weeks win against Manchester United go to their ends? Pleased Jeff Hendrick got his goal as well, after he got his move from Derby County just before the transfer deadline day in August. I knew the name but hadn’t seen too much of him, however after seeing him during the Euros for Ireland and impressing me a lot, there was no surprise he eventually got a move.

Onto tonight then anyway, Champions League matches are back for the second round of the group stage games and I think we’re in for a treat both tonight and tomorrow. First though I must mention the U19 UEFA Youth League Group Stage games as well, as I haven’t listed them below for obvious reasons. The Spurs and Leicester games are on TV today though around lunchtime on BT Sport 3, plus the U19’s game between Celtic and Man City is on around tea time on Wednesday on the same channel.

Kane not the only one missing for Spurs tonight

Huge game for Spurs tonight though in the one of the main fixtures. I feel there could be an upset as well so I’ll be sticking a bit of cash on Moscow to win tonight, it’s always tricky going to Moscow for most teams but Spurs go there missing a number of key players. The obvious one being Harry Kane, but with England internationals Danny Rose and Eric Dier both missing, plus Mousa Dembele and Moussa Sissoko who have also missed out. It could be a tough night ahead.

Would I go for a Leicester home win against Porto after their performance at the weekend, I would actually as I feel they’ll bounce back quite quickly. Few of the other games are tricky ones to call as well so there could be a few draws this evening but I’m not sure where yet. Dortmund are going well so I may well try and record their game against Madrid and watch it ‘as live’ if I can after I have watched Spurs. Roll on this evening anyway.

celtic-vscityCouple of interesting games on Wednesday as well. Arsenal should be high on confidence after destroying Chelsea at the weekend for the first time in five years. Home banker against Basel then? Napoli to win as well and then you have to go for a Man City away win. Don’t get me wrong, City are due a slip up and it’s coming very soon. I just can’t see it being Wednesday evening. Celtic have been scoring goals in the league and City haven’t kept many clean sheets so far this season, so both teams to score is a shout.

I’ll have to watch Celtic v Man City but Atletico Madrid v Bayern Munich is another game I’d loved to watch live. I’ll record it then and try and watch it ‘as live’ straight after if I can avoid hearing the score. Away wins for PSG and PSV as well is possible, certainly might be worth a double.
